Patti Adams is an award-winning signature member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society, Louisiana Lettering Arts Association and was the Director and Owner of the Garden District Gallery in New Orleans for six years. She received her training at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art with Auseklis Ozols and has participated in many community exhibitions and at the Academy, where she now teaches Creative Calligraphy and Color & Design.
She has designed and produced numerous commissions for organizations throughout the city, including the Krewes of Rex, Proteus, Comus, Mithras and Hermes, St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. She also created the scenic projections used in the New Orleans Opera’s 2010 production of The Magic Flute. As a calligrapher, her work has appeared in Bon Appetit, Southern Living and Victoria magazines and locally at the Boston Club, Pickwick Club and Galatoire’s Restaurant, among others.
In her parallel artistic life, Patti is a flutist with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and is on the faculty of Loyola University's College of Music & Fine Arts. She has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Music Festival and recorded and toured internationally with the Mexico City Philharmonic. She has served as President of the National Flute Association and was Program Chair of the NFA’s 25th anniversary convention in Chicago.
She and her husband, LPO timpanist Jim Atwood, live in the historic Garden District of
New Orleans with their two doodle doggies, Bijou and Beignet.
